Getting Started

The Decision

Deciding to have a new gas or electric fireplace, gas boiler or bathroom suite fitted is a major decision because a fireplace is a main feature in your home. And in the case of a boiler you want something that is reliable and long-lasting.

When you decide you would like a new gas or electric fireplace or gas boiler fitted, there are two important decisions to make, what type is best for you and who you would like to install your fireplace, bathroom or boiler. Hook Gas Services are able to assist and advise you on all of these major decisions, just contact us to discuss your needs. We are B&Q approved fireplace installers.

The Choice

It is important that you choose a gas or electric fireplace that is suitable for the flue in your home. There are three types of flue: brick-built chimney, pre-cast and pre-fabricated. The differences between these three types will determine what fire you can install in your home. Please arrange a home survey to discuss what fire will be suitable for your home.

Home Survey

Many gas or electric fireplace and boiler installation companies don't carry out a full home survey before starting work. It is usually left to the customer to take photos of the property and fill out lengthy technical questionaires, on which mistakes can easily be made. If these mistakes are made installation costs can increase rapidly from what was originally quoted.

Please contact us when you have decided on the style of fire and surround you would like, or when you are considering replacing your gas boiler. We will be happy to arrange a home survey at a time suited to you. We ask that you don't order your products until you have had your home survey, as they may not be of correct size and type for your home.

On the day of your survey one of our engineers will visit your home to check the type and condition of your flue to see if your chosen products are suitable. We will also conduct a gas safety check to ensure your flue etc complies to current gas safety regulations.

This survey will ensure your installation is carried out quickly on the day with as little delays as possible. At the survey, the engineer will also give you a final quote for the installation of your fireplace or boiler. This will be confirmed in writing 2 or 3 days later. The quote given during the survey is what you will pay when the work is finished.

After the Survey

After your home survey a date for installation will be arranged and your installation will be carried out. More information on the installation process is given on this page.
